Turncoat Howard Dean Should Resign

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Slams Democratic Turncoat Howard Dean and Returns $5,000 to DNC
Howard Dean's 'New Winning Strategy' for the Democratic Party: Just Be Republicans
Now that the DNC Chairman has told the Pat Robertson crowd that the Democratic Party is opposed to gay marriage too, I guess Dean will soon be telling the Concerned Women of America that Democrats are 'pro life' too.

Good fucking grief.

There's absolutely nothing new about this loser strategy, and all I gotta say is:

Where's that third party?

Dean is a DNC Chairman who doesn't even know what his own party platform says. He is a DNC Chairman who also doesn't even know who his own base is.

Dean is a modern day Benedict Arnold.

Howard Dean should just resign.

Bob Herbert says it best in today's column:

"If the Democrats don't know what they believe in yet — if they're still figuring that out — they don't deserve to win."

PageOneQ:

After it was reported that Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean misrepresented the portions of the party platform relating to marriage, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force returned a $5,000 contribution to the party, PageOneQ has learned. . . Dean made the statements on the Christian Broadcasting Network during its popular 700 Club program. . .

Bgay.com:

In a Christian Broadcasting Network interview aired on Wednesday, May 10, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said the following in response to a question about gay marriage:

"[On] gay marriage: the platform said marriage is between a man and a woman. That's what it says. I think where we may take exception with some religious leaders is we believe in inclusion. That everybody deserves to live with dignity and respect and equal rights under the law are important. I'm not saying we'll agree with everything between the more conservative evangelicals and Democrats but I think there's more common ground and we're willing to work with the evangelical community." [CBN, 5/10/06]

Here's Dean today, admitting he got it wrong:

"I misstated the Democratic Party's platform, which does not say that marriage should be limited to a man and a woman, but says the Party is committed to full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and leaves the issue to the states to decide. The Democratic Party remains committed to equal protection under the law for all Americans. How we achieve that goal continues to be the subject of a contentious debate, but our Party continues to oppose constitutional amendments that seek to short circuit the debate on how to achieve equality for all Americans."

Washington Blade:

"Howard Dean puts his foot in his mouth so often that he should open a pedicure wing in the DNC during his tenure," Log Cabin Republicans President Patrick Guerriero said Wednesday. "Howard Dean's positions on LGBT issues have changed more often than the weather in New England, where he's from."

The Human Rights Campaign refused to accept that Dean's remarks were an accidental misrepresentation of the party's possition and issued a strongly worded statement on Thursday, May 11, condemning the remarks.

"Governor Dean's comments weren't a mere slip of the tongue but a glaring reminder of the governor's lack of leadership on this issue," said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese.

Meanwhile, conservatives are having a field day. Who can blame them?

Dean: No, Really, Democrats are Conservative Republicans! Town Hall
