Strauss-Kahn Rape Hotel Lets Female Staff Wear Trousers

So when women don't wear skirts, we are not sexy enough, and when we do wear skirts, we are so sexy that men are driven to rape us:

Female staff at the Manhattan hotel where former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn allegedly sexually assaulted a chambermaid were being allowed Thursday to wear trousers instead of skirts, after a protest from employees, a union official said.

Sofitel, a hotel chain that prides itself on a traditional dress code, made the concession amid concern about the vulnerability of chambermaids after Strauss-Kahn was charged over allegations that he sexually assaulted and tried to rape a 32-year-old housekeeper. The alteration of its uniform code followed a meeting between staff and management that was also attended by a New York Hotel Workers Union representative.

Women Ordered to Wear Skirts by Sexist Badminton World Federation

The sexist Badminton World Federation (much like the U.S. Government it is ruled by 23 men and 2 women) thinks female badminton players should be more 'feminine,' and so has issued a new mandatory dress code: Women must wear skirts:

Like some other clueless idiots we know, deputy president of the Badminton World Federation (an American) Paisan Rangsikitpho denies he's sexist: "We just want them to look feminine and have a nice presentation so women will be more popular."

Palin Launches Nationwide Bus Tour

Sarah Palin is moving to the center of the 2012 presidential spotlight with the launch of a nationwide bus tour beginning this weekend. It's also true that Palin's new home in Arizona will make it much easier to run a presidential, or even a senatorial, campaign in 2012. And then there's the Sarah Palin movie which just happens to debut in Iowa, of all places.

Wisconsin Judge Strikes Down Anti-Union Law

A judge in Wisconsin just slapped back power-hungry Governor Walker by ruling that Walker's anti-union law is now null and void:

Judge Maryann Sumi of Dane County Circuit Court said the Senate vote on March 9, coming after 13 Democratic state senators had fled the state, failed to comply with an open meetings law requiring at least two hours notice to the public. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in the case on June 6 , and Republican lawmakers are hoping that the court overturns Judge Sumi’s ruling and reinstates the law.

John Edwards to be Indicted

The Justice Department reportedly intends to indict sleazeball John Edwards for using campaign funds to support his mistress and hide the affair from the public during Edwards' presidential campaign. The indictment (or a possible plea bargain) is expected to come down within the next 2 weeks. What a pity for his children.

If Edwards wants pity, he should give Arnold a call.

French Feminists Protest the Misogyny, Especially the Misogyny on the Left

Feminists in France are fed up with the "daily outpouring of misogynist comments by public figures." The misogynistic comments are primarily coming from the Left. Sound familiar?

French feminist groups demonstrated yesterday against what they said is a "flood" of male chauvinist comments generated in France by the Dominique Strauss-Kahn (DSK) affair.

The pro-DSK comments which have infuriated women's groups have mostly been made by left-wing politicians and commentators who would normally position themselves as supporters of women's rights. Socialist former culture and education minister, Jack Lang, said that DSK should have been given immediate bail since "no one was dead".

The commentator and leftist-nationalist activist, Jean-François Kahn – a close friend of DSK – said the allegations amounted to no more than a "troussage de domestique" (literally, stripping or having casual, forced sex with a servant). Both men have since apologised for their remarks. Another friend of DSK, the Socialist Euro MP Gilles Savary, suggested that the ex-IMF chief might have been the victim of a "cultural" gulf between France and the US. Mr Strauss-Kahn, he said, was a "libertine" who enjoyed the "pleasures of the flesh" but this was not tolerated in a "puritan America, impregnated with rigorous Protestantism". Mr Savary has not yet apologised for calling an alleged attempted rape "pleasures of the flesh".

We are all chamber maids,' declared one of the banners unfurled in front of Paris' iconic Pompidou Centre gallery complex. 'No means no!' The feminists' anger was turned on male commentators in the media - one magazine editor dismissed the attack as 'touching up the help' - and on a wave of off-colour online jokes on social networking sites. More than 15,000 people have signed the feminists' petition, including several French politicians.

Unions Fed Up With Dems; Cut Donations

From Obama's embrace of the Bush tax cuts for millionaires to the defeat of the Employee Free Choice Act to the relentless attacks on teachers and workers' rights, there's certainly plenty for working families to be fed up about:

Some of the nation’s largest labor unions are dramatically cutting their donations to the Democratic Party, saying they are frustrated with the Democrats for failing to put up strong resistance to Republican proposals that are opposed by labor, such as the efforts to eliminate collective bargaining rights for public sector workers. . In the first quarter of this year, union political action committees cut funding for House Democrats by half compared with the first quarter of 2009, from $5.8 million down to $3.1 million.

Gallup: Majority of Americans Favor Legal Gay Marriage

Now all we have to do is persuade our "leaders" to come out of the cave:

For the first time in Gallup's tracking of the issue, a majority of Americans (53%) believe same-sex marriage should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The increase since last year came exclusively among political independents and Democrats. . .

Democrats' and independents' support for legalized same-sex marriage increased this year by 13 and 10 points, respectively. Republicans' views on the issue did not change from last year. Clear majorities of both Democrats and independents now support gay marriage, 69% and 59% respectively, contrasted with 28% support among Republicans.

Maria Shriver Is Surprised that Womanizer Arnold Schwarzenegger Is A Cheater

Move over John Edwards. Back in 2003, when Maria Shriver was defending hubbie Arnold Schwarzenegger from allegations of sexual harassment by at least a dozen women, Schwarzenegger had already cheated on her and fathered at least one child. When will women learn?

Maria Shriver moved out of her home in Brentwood after Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to fathering a child with a longtime member of their household staff, reports the Los Angeles Times. Although the power couple only announced their separation last week, the paper says Schwarzenegger told his wife earlier this year, after the staff member, who worked for the family for 20 years, retired in January. The child was conceived a decade ago.

During California's 2003 recall election to replace Gray Davis, it was Shriver who came to her husband's defense amid allegations from a dozen women who said he had groped them over a number of years. She vouched for Schwarzenegger's personal integrity, helping him win a landslide election.

Update: Our Boy Media had a big clue back in 2003 when Schwarzenegger was running for Governor: The alleged existence of the out-of-wedlock son, including his name and his mother's name, was reported by the London Daily Mail in 2003.

I.M.F. Chief Denied Bail in Sexual Assault, Attempted Rape Case

IMF Chief Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers pleaded for a paltry one million dollar bail, but the woman, um, I mean the Judge was not persuaded. The so-called 'Great Seducer,' aka apparent Sadistic Pig and Rapist, was denied bail by Judge Melissa C. Jackson.

The 'Great Seducer,' aka yesterday's potential president of France, is charged with "two counts of criminal sexual acts in the first degree, one count of attempted rape, sexual abuse in the first degree, unlawful imprisonment, sexual abuse in the third degree and forcible touching:"

International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn allegedly forced a New York City hotel housekeeper to perform oral sex and submit to anal sex, in addition to allegedly attempting to rape her, according to a complaint filed today by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance. .

The complaint says he forcibly touched the housekeeper's breasts, attempted to pull off her panty hose, twice "forcibly made contact with his penis and the informant's mouth" and that "the defendant engaged in oral sexual conduct and anal sexual conduct with another person by forcible compulsion."

GOP: Tennessee Should Discriminate Equally Against Gays In Every County

Tennessee's Governor is expected to sign the odious bill overturning Nashville's anti-gay bias ordinance sometime next week. Lest we think the homophobic State has it in for Nashville, the Big GOP Government law will also forbid local government across the state from enacting their own anti discrimination policies:

Disregarding arguments that they are behaving with a “dictator attitude,” state senators voted Thursday to nullify Metro Nashville’s anti-gay bias ordinance and to bar any other Tennessee city from adopting such laws in the future.

In the tortured logic of Sen. Jack Johnson (R-Brentwood), if Tennessee is going to discriminate against gays, Tennessee should discriminate against gays in every county:

“When it comes to nondiscrimination practices, we should be consistent across this state,” said Sen. Jack Johnson, R-Brentwood. “When we get into a situation where various counties and various municipalities have different policies with regards to discrimination, I think we start down a very slippery slope.”

'SlutWalks' Coming to America: Because We've Had Enough (Toronto SlutWalk Video)

Wow. Is there a SlutWalk coming to your city? (Send me photos.) I'm long past ready to join one. Scroll down for the video clip of the Toronto SlutWalk. It's been such a long time coming:

Feminist phenomenon spawned in Canada goes viral - It all started with some ill-considered advice from a Toronto policeman. To prevent rape, he told a group of law students, “Avoid dressing like sluts.” That gaffe sparked a head-turning wave of protests dubbed “SlutWalks” in cities across Canada, in which women—some dressed in plain old jeans and t-shirts, others showing more skin than is practical in Canada—took to the streets to decry victim-blaming and slut-shaming.

“We had just had enough,” says Heather Jarvis, founder of SlutWalk Toronto. Now, the Huffington Post reports, the phenomenon has gone global, spreading virally to Europe, Asia, Australia, and the US. Most major US cities have or will have SlutWalks—Boston, Dallas, Hartford, Asheville, and Rochester will hold walks between now and May 7. “It isn’t about just one idea or one police officer,” says Jarvis. “It’s about changing the system.”

Rape In The Peace Corps

After being raped in so-called third world countries while serving as Peace Corps volunteers, women return to the good old U.S.A. to find a thriving rape culture:

When she returned to the United States, the reception she received from Peace Corps officials was as devastating, she said, as the rape itself. In Bangladesh, she had been given scant medical care; in Washington, a counselor implied that she was to blame for the attack. For years she kept quiet, feeling “ashamed and embarrassed and guilty.”

Today, Ms. Smochek is among a growing group of former Peace Corps volunteers who are speaking out about their sexual assaults, prompting scrutiny from Congress and a pledge from the agency for reform. .

[I]t is difficult to assess whether the volunteers face any greater risk overseas than women in the United States do.

Scary News Out of Gun-Happy Texas

There's a reason they call us the cowboy nation:

Frat Boys and Politicians Win on Texas Senate 'Gun Day'Yesterday was a big day for armed vigilantes in Texas. The state Senate first passed a bill that will allow "legislators, statewide elected officials, some former legislators and some state employees to carry their concealed weapons into churches, hospitals, bars, sporting events — even if a sign is posted saying weapons are prohibited." Do you foresee any problems arising from that?

And, as a nice little add-on to a higher education funding amendment, the Senate also voted in favor of that incredibly stupid bill that would allow college kids to carry concealed handguns on campus across the state. That bill now goes to the House, where it is said to have enough support to pass. Straight-shootin' Governor Rick Perry will then lick his lips, strap on his shit kickers, fire off a few rounds, and sign the bill into law.

State Continues Effort to Overturn Nashville's Anti Gay-Bias Bill

The State's effort to give a big FU to the city of Nashville and to all LGBT Tennesseans advances:

Sen. Thelma Harper called it “mean-spirited,” but state legislation to overturn Nashville’s anti-gay bias ordinance cleared its first hurdle in the Senate Monday.

The Senate State and Local Government Committee voted 6-3 for the bill, which also would forbid any other Tennessee city from enacting any new ordinances banning discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The committee split on party lines, with Republicans voting yes. .

“It’s a mean-spirited, discriminatory bill for people who dare to be different,” [Harper said]. “And this is not something that we should be working on.”
